Remodeling Company President Earns CAPS Designation

Gary Moffie, CGR, president of The Remodeling Company, has earned the Certified Aging-in-Place (CAPS) designation from the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). The CAPS designation identifies Moffie as one of a select group of building professionals qualified to perform home modifications that provide aesthetically pleasing, barrier free-living environments for independent, comfortable home living. NAHB together with the AARP, NAHB Research Center and NAHD 50+ Housing Council developed the CAPS program to help remodeling professionals meet the needs of the 77 million baby boomers reaching retirement age in the 21st century. The program provides instruction on the technical, business management and customer service skills needed to work with maturing adults to remodel their homes. CAPS training incorporates communication techniques, challenges and solutions, codes and standards and product ideas and resources. Additionally, designees are required to attend continuing education programs to maintain their CAPS designation.

Moffie joins a network of approximately 1,200 CAPS designees in the United States.

Need a Little Sound Advice?

The Remodeling Company partners with companies that bring new ideas and add value to our projects - and ultimately to our clients. Sound Advice Services (SAS) is one of those companies.

SAS brings music and video to the rooms where homeowners actually live: bedrooms, kitchens, dens, family rooms, decks, bathrooms, and of course – living rooms. Do you have family members who want to listen to different types of music in different rooms simultaneously? Maybe a little jazz on the screened in porch while opera is playing for the resident chef in the kitchen? Not a problem. Or do you want music on your iPod or computer played through your home system? Easily done. Are you interested in tuning in to satellite radio or listening to virtually any radio station from around the world? Simple.

Leveraging your existing equipment, SAS designs and implements affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use solutions that meet homeowners’ individual needs. By simplifying today's complicated audio, video, and home networking equipment, SAS unlocks its full potential – without frustration or undue expense. Feeling hassled by too many remote controls? SAS can streamline your system and alleviate remote control “clutter”. All this without messy wires – and better yet – at a reasonable cost.

Project Supervisor is "Solar Powered" in D.C.

A member of the remodeling team since 1998, Steve Daigneau is also part of a volunteer group that spent a week at the Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C. Daigneau was part of the Tufts University team that, along with 19 other teams, competed in a contest to design, build and operate the most attractive, effective and energy efficient solar-powered house. "I'm interested in doing what I can to help make sure our natural resources are still around after my generation is gone," said Daigneau. "Houses powered exclusively by the power of the sun are a great way to utilize a resource that will be around for a long time," he added. Daigneau spearheads one of The Remodeling Company's three project teams in Massachusetts.
